My experience with directing and producing videos has been an interesting journey. I have directed several company videos including product tutorials, interviews, corporate videos, created time-lapse clips for online purposes, and have created basic animated videos.

I start off by outlining the project and what the video needs to achieve. I then create the pitch with a storyboard showing the types of footage that would need to be gathered to demonstrate the look and feel. Next, I create a script for the narrator, making sure to edit it thoroughly. Involving other writers to assist with the tone that needs to be achieved is essential. Once I know the type of footage to gather, it's time to scout for locations and gather B roll. Then it's time to schedule a recording session with interviewees (this step tends to be a lengthy process).

Now for the fun part, editing! I love stitching the footage and the audio together. This is where you start to see the video come to life. Finally, the piece du resistance is the video debut, when you get to share the video with the world. It's exciting yet nerve wrecking, but seeing the audience react to the finished project makes it all worth while.

PROJECT: Corporate Video

COMPANY: Deltapath Inc. - Current Employer

ROLE: Director

Creating a corporate video is not a quick and easy project, especially when your team consists of two people. I created the script, storyboards, contacted and arranged recording sessions for the narrator, supervised the production process, gathered in-house and stock footage, directed the tone of the video. The debut of this corporate video was at the Dolby Cinema inside Dolby Laboratories HQ in San Francisco for Deltapath's Spotlight 2019 global event.
